Written by Jemma O'Leary

This error occurs when DHL cannot validate the origin or return address. The issue may be with the customer's address in the RMA, or with the merchant's return address in company settings.

Error message

"420504: The origin location is invalid. Please check the data"

What this means

DHL could not validate the origin or return address. The most common causes are a postcode that does not match the city, an invalid city name, or an unsupported postcode format for the country.

How to fix it

If the issue is with the merchant return address

  1. Go to Settings → Company Details in the Swap portal.

  2. Review the return address and confirm the postcode and city match correctly.

  3. Save the changes.

  4. Regenerate the label.

If the issue is with the customer's address

  1. Open the RMA.

  2. Review the customer's address.

  3. Verify the city and postcode are correct.

  4. If the country does not commonly use postcodes, try entering 00000 as the postcode.

  5. Update the address.

  6. Regenerate the label.
