Shipping zones

Shipping zones apply a single set of shipping settings to a group of countries at once.

Shipping zone configuration in the Swap Dashboard

Swap manages your shipping zones directly — zones can be activated, deactivated, edited, and deleted from the Swap Dashboard without going into Shopify Admin. If you already have shipping zones set up in Shopify, you can migrate them directly to Swap rather than recreating them manually.

After activating a zone, Swap automatically updates the carrier in the corresponding Shopify shipping zone to Swap Global, ensuring Swap Global handles all shipping costs, taxes, and duties.

Duties and tax buffers

Duties and tax buffers let you adjust the amount customers are charged for duties and taxes at checkout by a set percentage. A decrease buffer lets you partially or fully subsidise these costs for a smoother checkout experience; an increase buffer lets you account for fees that may not be fully captured at checkout.

Shipping rules

You can create shipping rules to control which shipping methods appear to customers during checkout. Rules can be based on cart weight and cart subtotal. Conditions on the same variable use OR logic; conditions across different variables use AND logic. Available comparisons: less than, less than or equal to, greater than, greater than or equal to, and between.

Below is an example of a shipping rule that dictates that any products in the Furniture collection with a weight of more than 10kg will show the special ‘Bulky Item’ shipping rate.

Custom fees

Custom fees let you create additional charges applied to the customer at checkout. All custom fees are visible in the Swap Dashboard and can be edited or deleted at any time. See Understanding custom fees in Swap Global for more.

Pricing zones

Pricing zones let you apply a consistent pricing strategy across multiple countries simultaneously, simplifying international pricing management. See Understanding pricing zones for a full explanation.

Analytics

Swap Global Analytics gives you an overview of Global's sales performance and lets you track key metrics across products and countries. See Understanding the Global analytics dashboard for details.

VAT-inclusive pricing

With VAT-inclusive pricing, VAT is built into your product prices so customers see and pay a single all-inclusive amount — no VAT added at checkout. This improves transparency and can increase customer satisfaction. See Understanding pricing strategies for more.

Tax breakdown at checkout

When Swap Global handles shipping, a tax and duties breakdown is displayed at checkout. It covers: the shipping rate, taxes (VAT or sales tax), and import duties and fees.

Tax breakdown in order notes

Swap adds shipping costs, taxes, and duties to the order notes in Shopify, giving merchants and customers a record to refer back to. The total shipping line charged at checkout is the sum of the shipping rate, taxes (VAT or sales tax), and import duties and fees.

Currency conversion

Before displaying the tax breakdown at checkout, Swap Global detects the customer's currency and converts all values accordingly, so the customer sees a consistent currency throughout.

| ℹ️ Conversion rates update once a day. Swap Global's rate will not always match Shopify's, so the converted breakdown may not add up precisely to the amount Shopify charges.

Billing and invoicing

The Billing page shows all your invoices in one place, with filters by status, invoice number, and date. Clicking an invoice opens the Invoice Details page, which includes a full transaction breakdown — order IDs, duties, taxes, fees, and aggregate data by destination country. You can export the invoice as a PDF or download transaction data as a CSV.
