Understanding the AI label tool (Returns V2)

The AI label tool automatically checks return shipping labels for address errors and suggests corrections before submission. This article covers what customers see, how the correction flow works, and how to enable or disable the setting.

Written by Guido Kaspers

The AI label tool automatically checks a customer's return label details for common errors — such as an incorrectly formatted address — and suggests a correction before the label is generated. This reduces the number of return labels that fail to generate due to address issues.

What this means for your customers

If a customer's address contains an error the AI label tool can correct (for example, an incorrect postcode), the tool retries label generation with the suggested fix:

  1. The customer sees a message explaining that there's an issue with their address, along with the suggested correction (for example, a corrected postcode).

  2. The customer can only confirm the suggested change — they cannot edit it directly.

  3. If the customer confirms, the AI label tool retries label generation with the corrected address. If this succeeds, the return continues as normal. If it fails again, the customer sees the standard failed label message and the return (RMA) is still created.

  4. If the customer doesn't confirm the change, the return continues straight to the standard failed label message, and the RMA is still created.

If the label generates successfully on the first attempt, the AI label tool makes no changes and the customer sees no message.

🤖 Enabled by default for all merchants. No setup is required to use the AI label tool.
