Label error — DHL or UPS — Transportation payer and duty/tax payer combination invalid

DHL or UPS label error caused by an invalid combination of transportation payer, duty payer, and VAT settings. Most commonly seen on UPS Standard EU shipments.

This error occurs when the carrier rejects a shipment because the payment configuration for transportation, duties, taxes, or VAT is invalid. It is most commonly seen on UPS Standard EU shipments.


Error message

"The combination of Transportation payer, Transportation payer country code, Duty and Tax payer, Duty and Tax payer country code, and Split Duty VAT Indicator is invalid."


What this means

The carrier rejected the shipment because the payment configuration for transportation, duties, taxes, or VAT is invalid. This is a configuration-level issue and usually requires Swap support to investigate.


How to fix it

  1. Reprocess the label.

  2. If the label generates successfully, no further action is needed.

  3. If the error persists, contact support and include the full error message and carrier name.


If the issue continues

Contact support with the RMA ID, carrier name, and a screenshot of the error. If the issue is affecting multiple shipments, note the carriers and shipment types involved.
