How to manually set up a Domestic Shipping Zone

This article explains how to override Swap's default domestic zone detection when you fulfil orders from a country that differs from your store's registered address.

Written by Guido Kaspers

When this is needed

By default, Swap determines your domestic shipping zone from your store's registered physical address. If you operate a fulfilment centre in a different country and need that country treated as your domestic market, you'll need to set this manually.

Example: your store address is in the United Kingdom but you fulfil from a warehouse in Germany. Swap would normally treat the UK as domestic, but you need Germany treated as domestic instead.

How to set a manual domestic zone

  1. Go to Shipping in the Swap Dashboard.

  2. Create a new shipping zone or open an existing one.

  3. Add the fulfilment country to the zone.

  4. In the zone name, include the word "domestic" — for example, Domestic - Germany.

Swap identifies the word "domestic" in the zone name and treats it as the domestic zone, regardless of your store's registered address.

⚠️ Only one domestic zone can be active at a time. This does not require changing your Shopify billing address or primary location.
