This article explains how to connect your Rise.ai account to Swap so that store credit is issued via Rise when a customer completes a return.
This feature is available in Returns V2 only.
Before you start
If you manage multiple stores in Swap, select the correct store before connecting. The integration is linked to that store only.
How it works
When a customer completes a return and chooses store credit, Swap sends an event to your Rise.ai account. Rise runs your configured workflow (for example, one triggered by Swap Order Returned) to credit the customer. You manage the store-credit experience in Rise instead of relying on Shopify's native store credit alone.
If Rise.ai is not connected, Swap automatically falls back to Shopify's native store credit.
Swap sends the event and Rise processes it asynchronously. Credit is issued by your Rise workflow, not instantly inside Swap.
Connecting Rise.ai
Sign in to the Swap merchant dashboard.
Open Returns → Integrations.
Find Rise.ai and click Connect.
In the setup dialog, read the summary, then click Connect.
You are redirected to Rise.ai. Sign in if prompted, then click Agree and Install (or equivalent) to authorise Swap.
After authorisation, your browser returns to Swap on the Integrations page.
Confirm that Rise.ai shows as connected on the Integrations page.
After connecting
Swap fires a Swap Order Returned event to Rise whenever a customer completes a return with store credit selected.
Your Rise workflow handles issuance. Configure Rise to respond to the Swap Order Returned trigger (or the equivalent trigger shown in your Rise workflow builder).
Each return triggers the workflow only once, so duplicate credit is not issued for the same return.
Review your Rise workflow (amounts, currency, customer matching, etc.) after connecting to make sure it matches how you want store credit to work.
Disconnecting Rise.ai
Go to Returns → Integrations.
Open Rise.ai (shown as connected).
Choose Disconnect and confirm.
After disconnecting, new returns with store credit will use Shopify native store credit again unless you reconnect Rise.
Troubleshooting
I am redirected back to Swap but Rise.ai still shows as not connected
Return to Returns → Integrations and refresh the page.
Try Connect again from the Rise.ai card.
If it still fails, contact Swap support with the time of the attempt and the store name.
I see an error during or right after Rise authorisation
This can happen if authorisation timed out or was interrupted (closed tab, long delay, or browser blocking redirects).
Start again from Returns → Integrations → Rise.ai → Connect.
Use a single browser window and complete the Rise steps without long pauses.
If the problem continues, contact Swap support.
Store credit is not issued after a return
Confirm all of the following:
Rise.ai shows as connected on the Swap Integrations page.
Your Rise workflow is active and listens for the Swap Order Returned trigger.
The return used store credit (not only refund or another outcome).
Rise.ai remains installed on your Shopify store.
If everything looks correct and credit still does not appear, check Rise's workflow logs and contact Swap support if needed.
