Who this integration is for

The Swap Magento Extension is designed for merchants running Magento 2 who want to connect their store to Swap's cross-border platform. Typically, a developer handles the installation while a store admin completes the configuration — no custom development is required beyond the initial setup.

What you get with the integration

Once installed and configured, the extension gives you access to Swap's full cross-border feature set from Magento — including order management, shipping, returns, and international logistics — without needing to build custom integrations.

Before you start

Make sure your Magento 2 instance is fully operational before beginning. It's also worth contacting the Swap team early to start the onboarding process, so your Swap account is ready and the team is available to support you through setup.

Installing the Magento extension

The technical installation is handled by a developer with server access. They'll upload the extension to your Magento server and run the necessary Magento CLI commands to install and activate the module. Full instructions are in the Magento extension installation guide for developers.

Configuring the Magento extension

Once installation is complete, a store admin logs into Magento and enables the extension from the admin panel. During this step, the admin enters their email address, which automatically creates the Swap account and notifies the onboarding team to continue setup. Step-by-step instructions are in the Magento extension configuration guide.

Onboarding and activating the Magento extension

Once the extension is installed and configured, Swap's onboarding team reviews your setup, finalises shipping carrier settings, confirms shipping rates, and activates your account for live use.

Go-live

After activation, your Magento store is fully connected to Swap. Orders will flow through Swap for processing and fulfilment, and you'll have access to all Swap cross-border features.

If you haven't started onboarding yet, book a demo with the Swap team to get started.
