The Swap Magento Extension makes it easy for merchants using Magento 2 to integrate their store with Swap’s cross-border platform. Once installed and configured, the extension allows Magento merchants to manage orders, shipping, returns, and international logistics directly through Swap.
This article provides a general overview of how the integration works. For technical installation or configuration, please refer to the dedicated guides:
Who should use this integration
The Swap Magento Extension is designed for merchants running Magento 2 who want to connect their store to Swap. Typically, a developer will handle the installation, while a store admin completes the configuration. Once set up, the extension allows merchants to benefit from Swap’s cross-border services without the need for complex custom development.
Benefits of using the Swap Magento Extension
By integrating Magento with Swap, you get access to a fully managed cross-border solution without the need for complex development work. The extension handles the technical connection while Swap manages logistics, shipping, and returns behind the scenes. With dedicated onboarding and support, most merchants can be up and running quickly.
Integration process
Integrating Magento with Swap involves several simple steps, which are handled jointly by your technical team and the Swap onboarding team.
Preparation
Before starting, you’ll want to make sure your Magento 2 instance is fully operational. It’s also a good idea to contact the Swap team early to begin the onboarding process. This ensures your Swap account is set up and that the team is available to assist you during the integration.
Installation
The technical installation of the Swap Magento Extension is done by a developer with server access. The developer will upload the extension to your Magento server and run a few Magento CLI commands to install and activate the module. Full details can be found in the Installation Guide for Developers.
Configuration
After the installation is complete, a store admin logs into Magento and enables the extension from the admin panel. During this step, the admin will enter their email address, which automatically creates the Swap account and notifies the onboarding team to continue setup. The exact steps are outlined in the Configuration Guide for Admins.
Onboarding and activation
Once the extension is installed and configured, Swap’s onboarding team will review your setup. They will work with you to finalise shipping carrier settings, review shipping rates, and activate your account for live usage.
Go-live
After onboarding is complete and your account is activated, your Magento store is fully connected to Swap. From that point on, orders will flow through Swap for processing and fulfilment, and you’ll have access to all Swap cross-border features.
Contact Swap
If you haven’t started onboarding yet, or if you need assistance at any point, you can reach out to the Swap team directly. You can book a demo here, or contact your assigned onboarding manager once your account setup begins.
